Liza has been a teaching artist since 2005, when she began teaching yoga in Los Angeles. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and a Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT), and she uses that knowledge to inform her aerial coaching. Liza has vast experience teaching adults and children. She worked for 4 years in the nationally recognized social circus program at the International School of Louisiana, and at Circus Smirkus in Vermont, the longest running youth circus camp in America. She spent 3 years on staff at Versatile Arts in Seattle, and now coaches privately and at her own gym, Fly Circus Space, in New Orleans. As a coach, she draws heavily on her passion for anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics. She loves coaching recreational aerialists for fun and fitness, and is best at helping her students cultivate safe and efficient technique, gain superior proprioception, and understand dynamic movement on both vertical and bar apparatus as well as on the ground. Liza is also well known in the “circ-ademic” world for her Elements of Choreography aerial act creation method, a unique theatre- and dance-based approach to devising work on any vertical landscape; and for her careful progressive curriculums, which make circus accessible the any body while keeping classes challenging. She has taught all over the country, including at Aloft in Chicago, Samadhi in Honolulu, and The Muse in Brooklyn, and she can come to your studio, too!
